Its purpose is to improve appearance and clarity — not to physically replace paint.
This distinction matters: correction restores what remains in the clear coat. It does not:
Repair scratches that penetrate through clear coat
Restore flaking, chipped, or missing paint
“Create” new clear coat
Return paint to a factory-fresh condition if the surface has been worn for years
When a scratch catches your fingernail, or the clear coat is thin, full removal by polishing is often unsafe or impossible.
Clear Coat Limits and What That Means for You
Every vehicle’s clear coat has a finite thickness. Paint correction removes a microscopic amount of that layer to smooth the surface.
